There is a philosophical problem with sending people into long-term spaceflight. The fact is that they may not get there before their lifetime is over, and their life span will be shortened by being confined in an unfamiliar environment with their changing genes. It is envisaged that these future space travelers will continue to have children, who will be trained to do the job.

However, if that fails, the spacecraft will continue its course, but by the time it reaches its destination all the occupants will be out of date.
